Regulation on Drug Convicts

A Protocol was signed on the Community Reintegration Project for Individuals in Prison for Drug Charges. The signing ceremony took place at the Prime Minister's Office, with the participation of Hasan Karaokçu, the President of the Anti-Drug Commission (UMK) established on 18/11/2014 and operating under the Prime Ministry, the Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman and the Minister of Interior, Ayşegül Baybars. The protocol aims to provide individuals who were imprisoned for addiction and are convicted more than once for the same offense with necessary treatment and psychosocial support during their period of stay in prison. It also sets out a plan to continue such treatment and support after their release with an aim to help these individuals re-establish their relations with their families, adapt to the society, produce, have shelter, food, clothing, and provide for their health and educational needs in cooperation with relevant institutions and organisations in order to reintegrate them back into the society.
